Ben Hammer

Ben is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Before pursuing his MBA, Ben worked as a federal healthcare consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton on the team managing Healthcare.gov, the Affordable Care Act’s online Health Insurance Exchange.

Consulting for the Centers Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Ben led insurance companies, agents, and brokers through training and beta-testing of new functionalities before they would be launched to the website. Ben also collected and analyzed payors’ claims and enrollment data for the Federal Risk Adjustment Program’s submission requirements. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Ben conducted research at Boston Children’s Hospital on methods of improving health care quality and spending and the effects of incentive-based interventions on care delivery for vulnerable populations in the primary care setting, an area that is a particular interest of his.

While at Sloan, Ben is the Programming and Marketing Officer of the MIT Sloan Healthcare Club, Co-Lead of a student-organized comparative healthcare study tour to Europe, and is an MBA Senior Strategy Associate with a healthcare services startup in stealth mode. Ben earned a BA in Biology with specializations in Neuroscience and Endocrinology from the University of Chicago.
