Zerick Dunbar

Zerick has a passion for identifying and assessing problems, leveraging resources, and implementing solutions.

Since beginning his PhD studies, Zerick has continually sought out opportunities to gain and refine skills such as entrepreneurship, cross-functional teamwork, and project management that are applicable to a career within biomedical research and development and its translation to value-based healthcare. Outside of biomedical science, Zerick has diverse work experiences that include community projects. In 2019 he founded Carr Choice Properties LLC, a company working to provide solutions for residential and commercial real estate development in Louisiana. Ultimately Zerick looks forward to utilizing his education, acquired skills, and networks to help identify and combat challenges impacting underrepresented communities. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and eating, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Zerick is currently a senior PhD candidate in immunology at Meharry Medical College. Specifically, he works in the lab of Dr. Anil Shanker studying the tissue-specific activity of natural killer cells in solid tumors. Prior to enrolling at Meharry, Zerick earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in biomedical engineering at Tulane University.
