Ellen Bursey

Columbia Business School

Ellen Bursey is a second year MBA student at Columbia Business School, where she focuses her studies on healthcare management, venture capital, and technology. Ellen is passionate about digital health innovation, particularly as it relates to expanding access and affordability to underserved populations across the U.S. and abroad.

Prior to CBS, Ellen worked for ~4 years in management consulting at Kearney, where she was part of the Healthcare and Life Sciences practice. Ellen consulted for organizations across the healthcare value chain, including pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, payors, providers, and pharmacy retailers. Ellen gained investing experience by interning for the Healthcare team of Chicago-based OCA Ventures in Fall 2022. In this role, Ellen led diligence and founder communications for ~40 different health tech ventures. Last year, Ellen also worked side-by-side with the founder of Forfend Health, an early-stage start-up focused on preventative care and lab testing. She is an InSITE Fellow, and through this program she worked with LA-based VC M13’s Venture Studio (Launch Lab) to help incubate a nutrition venture. Last summer, Ellen worked in Google’s San Francisco office where she met with many representatives across Google Health to better understand Big Tech’s ambitions in healthcare. Ellen is originally from Atlantic Canada, where she earned her Bachelor of Commerce at Queen’s University.
