Alex Martinek
Alex is currently an M.D. candidate at Morehouse School of Medicine: Alex has long been driven by his passion for the intersection of medicine and technology, and he aims to combine this with his expertise in public health. Before starting medical school, Alex contributed to global health engagements and bio-surveillance as a Public Health Fellow at U.S. Southern Command’s Office of the Command Surgeon. He also investigated the potential healthcare burden of blockchain on patients and healthcare stakeholders with Kapalina Labs. He has published reports on various topics including translational epidemiology, community health, and mental health. Alex is currently researching the usability of smartphone-application based patient reported outcome measures for post-operative patients at Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory Health. He is also a volunteer market research analyst for the National Cancer Institute’s SBIR Center. Originally from Miramar, Florida, Alex graduated from Nova Southeastern University studying Biology and Bioinformatics. Alex enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with his family in his free time.
