Program Overview

Flare Capital Scholar Program is an annual professional development program for aspiring healthcare leaders and mid-career executives to learn about how venture capital works and is especially valuable for individuals with entrepreneurial or investing interests.

The overarching goal of the Scholar Program is to build a community of promising, young, and diverse executives who are passionate about healthcare technology innovation. While engaged in a full-time job or academic program, Scholars will engage with the Flare Capital investment team to increase familiarity with various aspects of venture capital and healthcare technology.


Who We Look For

Highly ambitious, curious, and intrinsically driven individuals with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare technology industry.

Academic

• Currently enrolled in MBA, MD, MPH, or other graduate program.

• Ownership of Flare Capital programming and events on your campus, plus options to engage in a project in a topic of interest with Flare Capital team.

Industry

• Early to mid-career executive from leading healthcare companies strategically linked to Flare Capital LP.

• Willing to serve as a liaison between Flare Capital and industry employer regarding joint initiatives, company introductions, and other collaboration opportunities.

Both Tracks

• Working knowledge of the US Healthcare system — specifically the role of provider systems, payer organizations, and other vendors.

• Experience working in healthcare technology or services — the program is purpose-built for aspiring founders, startup operators, and investors, as well as individuals interested in studio, accelerator, or corporate innovation roles.

• Diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and professional experiences.

Key Program Features

Participants will build the foundational skills and knowledge needed to break into early-stage healthcare technology.

Engagement & Mentorship
Engagement, mentorship, and collaboration with the Flare Capital investment team.
Structured Curriculum
A curriculum of foundational knowledge of early-stage healthcare technology, ranging from healthtech trends to best practices for working with portfolio companies to insights regarding deal structuring and financing instruments.
Exclusive Networking
Exclusive in-person and virtual networking opportunities with high-caliber industry decision-makers, portfolio company executives, Flare Scholar alumni, and the Flare Capital investment team.
Career Development Opportunities
Optional opportunities to further explore healthcare and career interests, including joining a Partner Meeting for “A Day in the Life of a Healthcare VC,” participating in the Flare Scholar Ventures investment initiative, and collaborating with mentor on a thought leadership piece in an area of interest.
