Why We Invested
Annually, about 10% of hospitalizations and 15% of in-patient hospital procedures are attributed to the treatment of digestive diseases. Despite the high cost and high prevalence rate, access to high-quality gastrointestinal (GI) care is still a challenge for more than 70 million people in the US and driving more than $135 billion in annual healthcare costs. In a prospective clinical trial conducted in partnership with a national health plan, Oshi Health’s virtual multidisciplinary GI care model demonstrated statistically significant reductions in healthcare costs after six months, compared to propensity-matched controls. We are excited to support Oshi Health in its quest to democratize its groundbreaking, life-changing GI care.

“Digital health innovations are having a profound impact on the healthcare industry. At Oshi, we’re scaling access to multidisciplinary care that has not previously been properly supported or incentivized by traditional fee-for-service reimbursement. We are driving systemic change by working with health plan and employer partners to understand the structural and incentive gaps in digestive care, and forge contracts aligned to improving outcomes at lower cost.”
